Unison Equal pay campaigner accuses his own bosses of sexual discrimination

Peter Hunter 42, Scottish legal officer of Unison has embarrassed senior Unison Bosses by accusing the body of sexual discrimination.

Pay Equality has dominated the organisations work for the past few years and  Mr Hunter had been a key player in bringing sex discrimination cases against the NHS and councils in Scotland.

Mr Hunter argued in a tribunal held in Glasgow that despite being rated as equivalent to four female colleagues, in contrast with three regional colleagues he didn’t receive a car or subsistence allowance, which is thought to be in the region of £2000 a year. Mr Hunter also spoke of failing to get a further supplement of £10’000 a year.

Unison argue that Mr Hunter had not stated clearly that his claim was for equal pay or sexual discrimination when he had made his original grievance, and that he further failed to clarify which colleagues he was comparing himself with. A tribunal judgement is expected later this month.
