Senior Police chief accuse the Met of holding ethnic minorities back

Ethnic Minority police officers are being held back according Senior Police chief. In an article published in the telegraph Senior police chief Peter Fahy said he believes ethnic minority officers are being discriminated against unfairly. Police Commander Ali Dizaei, who is president of the National Black Police Association, responded to Mr Fahy's comments by saying that the police was 'institutionally racist'

The comments were in the face of news from Human Resources Magazine that the Met Police had increased the proportion of ethnic minority staff from 3.9% in the year 2000 to 8.5% in 2007
