BIS Begins Enquiry on Boards Diversity

The BIS – which is Parliament’s Business, Innovation and Skills Committee, has recently started an enquiry into representation of workers, and gender equality in the higher paid positions.

The tribunal will investigate whether there is in fact evidence that company boards with greater diversity actually perform better. They will be looking at how this may be achieved. Another aspect they will consider is whether there should be more worker representation on boards and committees. The tribunal will be asking what more can be done to increase the number of women who hold executive positions on various boards and committees.

Finally, the tribunal will focus on corporate governance with key points being the pay scales for executives, and the duties of board directors.
