Diversity & Inclusion Manager

    What is the role?

    We are looking for an experienced Diversity & Inclusion specialist to join our HR team on a permanent basis working 3 days per week. Your main base will be St Mary's Stadium in Southampton City Centre, but we do offer flexible working arrangements which can include some home working. The role work closely with the internal Equality teams and will chair our external Inclusion Advisory Group.

    Responsibilities include delivering and embedding inclusive and positive cultural change across the Group, with a demonstrable impact on the Group's strategies, events, training, external relationships and policies. You will also support staff members at all levels to lead inclusively and continually enhance equality and diversity within the Club.

    What are we looking for?

    To excel in this role, you will be passionate about bringing positive and innovative change to the Club. You will have great interpersonal skills, be confident in building relationships and enjoy being a team player whilst also being a self-driven individual. The ideal candidate will be able to clearly and effectively communicate their expertise to all stakeholders including Board Members. Previous experience in a similar role is essential.

    The competencies which are required include:

    Essential Experience:

    • An established expert in Diversity and Inclusion
    • Experience influencing at all levels of an organisation including Board Directors
    • Practical experience of delivering D&I activity and embedding inclusive practice into organisations
    • Experience working in a matrix organisation and balancing multiple stakeholder requirements
    • Strong relationship builder both inside and outside of organisations

    Desirable Experience:

    • Knowledge of HR (generalist or key discipline) practices and procedures would be desirable
    • Experience within the sports industry or a reputable brand
    • Project Management experience

    Desirable Qualifications (including certifications):

    • Educated to Degree Level.
    • CIPD Level 5 and above

    Essential Skills:

    • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and self direction.
    • Personal passion and curiosity in diversity and inclusion.
    • Capability to act as a trusted advisor for senior stakeholders.
    • Ability to drive a strategic agenda through colleagues and counterparts.
    • Ability to challenge ideas and through processes constructively.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
    • Enthusiastic and personally committed to achieving objectives set and receptive to feedback about own behaviour, strengths and areas for improvement.
    • Must be a self-motivator with a professional attitude and approach.
    • Exceptionally strong communication and written skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • PC literate, comprehensive knowledge of software packages.
    • Flexible and adaptable.

    Desirable Skills:

    • Familiarity with driving inclusion through a framework, for example Stonewall Index, Premier League Standard, Athena Swan.
