An opportunity has arisen within our Prevention & Protection Community Safety section for an Equality & Inclusion Advisor role, based at Headquarters in Sheffield.

Contract: Permanent
Salary: Grade 6 (£25,481 - £27,741)
Hours: Full Time - 37 Hours per week
Work Pattern: Flexi time, Mon - Fri
Location: Command Headquarters, Sheffield

The overall purpose of the role will be responsible for the management of the Community Safety administration team and will be integral to the development of the team and their working practices. The post holder will also manage a programme of education, training and development to support equality, diversity and inclusion within the communities of South Yorkshire.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of managing, supporting and developing a team of staff. Have an understanding of how to support South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue to understand the needs of South Yorkshire's communities to reduce risk and ensure equality of service to all sections of the community.

You must possess relevant management skills and/or be able to demonstrate experience in this area. Have relevant equality, diversity and inclusion qualifications or demonstrate against this criteria, and have an understanding of the legislation around Equality and Inclusion, and you will need to be able to work in collaboration with other departments and teams to embed its principles into SYFR.

The key duties will include day to day line management of a team of three Community Safety Department admin staff. To plan, deliver and attend events and campaigns targeted at underrepresented group. To work in collaboration with community forums / groups and SYFR stakeholders to build networking opportunities, share good practice and implement equality legislation. To create and monitor equality, diversity and inclusion business action plans, research, produce and monitor policies, procedures and guidance documents.
