Location:West Midlands - Wolverhampton
Salary:£22,620 rising to £23,660 on successful completion of training course (inclusive of 4% shift allowance)
Hours:Full time - 35 hours per week

The RSPCA is the oldest animal welfare charity in the world and one of the most widely recognised and loved charities in the UK. Our life-saving work in England and Wales includes helping to improve the welfare of pets, farm animals, wild animals and those used in research and testing.

Our Inspectors and Animal Rescue Officers are vital front line workers and probably the most recognisable part of the RSPCA.

Their work includes alleviating animal suffering by responding to alleged reports of animal cruelty, neglect or injury, and collecting and rescuing sick, injured or stranded animals before taking them to a place of safety.

What is less well known is the people-focused work our rescuers carry out, often providing advice and guidance to pet owners who may be unintentionally neglecting their animals.

We're excited to open our recruitment for our new and dedicated Animal Rescue Officers to join us at the RSPCA. This is a great opportunity for a rewarding career and a starting route to potentially becoming an RSPCA Inspector.

Selection Process Overview

  • Online interviews (One-way)

If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to complete a one-way video interview where questions will be displayed on screen and you will have a set time to review the question and video record an answer.

You'll have the opportunity to practice within the app before joining the official interview, and we'll provide full guidance to you upon invitation.

There will be a deadline to complete the interviews by, and reasonable adjustments may be made upon request to the Resourcing Team.

  • Virtual interviews

If successful at the one-way video interview stage, you will be invited to attend an online interview (via Google Meet) with two panel members from the RSPCA. The interview will last around 45 minutes and there will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have around the role too.

  • Conditional offer and pre-employment checks

Decision time! Successful candidates will be verbally offered the role, subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks. All other candidates will be notified and offered the opportunity for feedback too.

  • Medicals

Appointed candidates will be required to attend an occupational health and functional assessment in London. Dates and your availability will be confirmed in advance, and travel expenses will be reimbursed.

  • Confirmation of offer and contracts issued

Once all pre-employment checks are complete, you will be issued a formal offer letter and contract to review and sign.

  • Training programme start date
