Sopra Steria Recruitment is working in partnership with a major public sector client in the UK. We are currently recruiting a Senior Service Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager to be based in Inner London for an initial period of 05 months with possible extension.

The Maximum Pay Rate: £250 (Inside IR35)
Location: Travel between Clifton House, London and other sites (Merton, Sutton, West Kent)

Context of the role

The Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager will support the continued development of an effective and professional Equality and Diversity service to management and staff across the client. They will provide strategic and operational guidance for the development of strategy, policy and practice in relation to equality, diversity and human rights legislation to customers. This includes interpreting national guidance and providing information and advice to client on their responsibilities under equalities legislation covering the nine protected characteristics/groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010.

They will provide a support, advice and guidance service to customers and ensure implementation of activities within SLAs requirements.

The post holder will support the development and implementation of Equality Diversity and Inclusion activities within. They will work closely with the Senior Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Managers.

Role specific duties and responsibilities

The post holder will undertake the following duties and responsibilities

  • To maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • To participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and expertise
  • To develop and implement data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data
  • To present information and issues, explaining highly complex issues, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • To liaise with other managers to share best practice
  • To maintain detailed knowledge of equalities legislation, regulations and codes of practice
  • To ensure that responsibilities in relation to equality, diversity and human rights legislation are Embedded in planning, commissioning and delivery of services by customers include the embedding of the Equality Delivery System the Workforce
  • Race Equality Standard and the Accessible Information Standard
  • To provide specialist expertise to enable customers to embed the Equality Delivery
  • System and ensure compliance with relevant legislation. This may include discrete pieces of work, research and/or training
  • To co-ordinate customer submissions to the client, working groups/committees as required, liaison with the communications team to ensure declarations are made and equality and diversity is visible
  • To provide or support appropriate staff development initiatives relating to the equality, diversity and human rights agenda
  • To support the development of equality, diversity action plans, aligned to strategic plan outcomes
  • To develop and implement Equality Analysis processes and systems
  • To develop and implement equalities monitoring processes for highlighting patterns of inequality in service delivery and workforce development
  • To contribute to performance improvement, taking a lead for identified areas where agreed
  • To provide coordination of and participate in relevant internal and external working groups and provide project advice, expertise and support where requested
  • To provide relevant and timely specialist advice and guidance on own portfolio of projects/function
  • To work with members of the team to investigate the causes of any variance from target/plan and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions
  • To manage risk and issues tracking mechanism and its proactive resolution and escalation processes
  • To ensure timely and accurate information analysis and reporting to management on agreed areas of work
  • To undertake aspects of Research and Development activities, collating information, analysing and reporting findings
  • To contribute to the strategic planning of team projects, identifying interdependencies across projects/functions
  • To contribute to short, medium and long term business plans, achieving quality outcomes
  • To contribute to the review and development of existing information management
  • systems and contribute to the development of an integrated approach to, service or initiative management
  • To develop policies and procedures in own work function with an impact on the wider organisation, as required
  • To attend relevant training provided by the client and external agencies
  • The post holder is required to follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedure.
