Role Purpose
  • The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Global Head of D&I with the design, delivery and monitoring of the Group D&I Strategy and core planning activity for the function.


Key Accountabilities

Impact on Business
  • Develops group-wide D&I Plan, in collaboration with Global Head of D&I.
  • Anticipates and responds to external D&I forces (e.g. government reviews, legislative reform, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) ratings agencies, HSBC investors etc..
  • Manages D&I content for Annual Reporting and Accounts process and all other ESG related disclosures.
  • Updates and maintains global D&I policies
  • Manages D&I scorecard objective setting and assessment process with Group Strategy as required
  • Oversees development of annual comms plan with HR Comms. and Group D&I awards submissions
  • Supports Global Head of D&I with governance and reporting frameworks.
  • Drafts D&I papers for global governance forums
  • Oversees D&I data quality, reporting and insights with related HR and Employee Insights and Communications areas, leading regular data reviews with data specialists
  • Oversees programme of work weaving D&I principles into content across the employee lifecycle
  • Leads some strand-specific D&I projects
  • Oversees budget setting and tracking process

  • Ensures compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards and policies.
  • Assists line manager on being responsive to regulators by addressing issues.
  • Promotes an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand and values.


Observation of Internal Controls
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards
  • Protects HSBC's internal and external reputation.





Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
  • Broader HR and D&I subject matter expertise - thought leader and strong technical capabilities
  • Advanced project management skills - a track record of translating business objectives and needs into D&I solutions through appropriately setting objectives, targets, deadlines, cost management, quality and project management best practices. Needs to demonstrate that this ability can be exercised over regionally distributed teams
  • Understanding of D&I data and HR systems, with ability to draw compelling insights from data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills to a wide range of internal and external audiences, including executive level
  • Experience of governance models and reporting frameworks/requirements
  • Self starter, resilient and tenacious with focus on execution and delivery
  • Connected to external D&I best practice and thought leadership, with ability to summarise complex information in an easy to understand way
  • Strong commercial acumen, with exposure to working in a financial services organisation desirable
  • Ability to thrive within a changing, complex, culturally rich and geographically dispered environment


Under the Company's internal 'Back to Front'/'Front to Back' transfer policy this role may be classed as High Risk. As a result, internal candidates may require enhanced approvals and vetting checks if they are currently employed in a Front Office department, or if they have worked in a Front Office department within the last 5 years (please refer to the HR FIM definition for further guidance).
