PR/CSR Manager
Description

This role will provide a public relations and CSR lead for the business. This will involve the day-to-day management and implementation of all PR and CSR activities, in particular to support the companys network of yards. The role will also be responsible for the management and co-ordination of all crisis communications, in conjunction with the Marketing Director.
The role will support a national network of sites so while you will be based at the head office, national travel will be expected as required to work with local sites, press and community bodies to help create commercial PR stories and increase the brand and company reputation.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
To develop and implement the companys proactive PR, CSR and crisis communications programmes
To ensure that all activity is delivered to create the maximum positive exposure for the company and its brands, to encourage customer loyalty and repeat custom
To manage the PR, CSR and sponsorship elements of the marketing budget to ensure that expenditure is monitored and maintained within budget
To devise and implement a programme for engaging the local communities around the companys network of yards and building a positive image for the business
To develop a CSR strategy for the wider business, incorporating the yards but also focusing on wider sustainability issues that will enhance our profile with larger, corporate customers
To deliver an effective PR programme, using printed and online media, to achieve the companys business objectives
To manage all crises, in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Director and to ensure that the Crisis Communications Plan is always up to date
To generate effective content for inclusion in PR and other marketing activities, using a network of specialists throughout the business
To consider and respond to all enquiries for sponsorship and support, ensuring that local management teams are aware of the opportunities and are able to input into the decision
To select, liaise with and, where required manage third party organisations that can support the companys PR and CSR activities
To develop and maintain effective relationships with area, commercial and yard managers to seek out relevant national and regional stories from within the company to generate exposure
To consider and respond to all sensitive enquiries and negative coverage of the business and/or its brands
To work closely with key contacts throughout the business, creating opportunities through which the company can demonstrate thought leadership
To support the marketing campaigns delivered by the wider marketing team, ensuring that all PR and sustainability angles have been considered
To establish links with the relevant trade bodies to generate appropriate levels of generic industry PR
To ensure that the appropriate contacts within the business have been media trained and able to engage with the media
To perform an advisory role for the business on matters relating to PR and CSR activity
To contribute towards the departments defined financial and other objectives
To ensure an appropriate strategy is in place for countering online coverage. This will include co-ordinating and writing responses to online and social media coverage, as necessary, ensuring the correct approval has been secured

Experience required:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a business or marketing related subject
Experience of delivering PR and Communications strategies and tactics
Experience of having worked in a CSR role, preferably in a multisite organisation
Strong project management skills to ensure that activity is delivered on time with a high level of professionalism
Experience of dealing with and having a strong relationship with UK local media
Must be able to evidence delivery of effective PR campaigns using a wide variety of techniques and communication channels.
Experience of writing and preparing press releases and of representing the business with the media
Experience of managing PR agencies
Experience of preparing and delivering strategic plans and presentations
Experience of having to justify PR activity in an environment where awareness of the benefits of marketing activity is limited
Holds a post graduate PR and Communications qualification
Experience of working in B2C and B2B environments, preferably within a related sector
