Equality and Diversity HR Business Partner . 6 Month contract with review Exclusive to Hays Deadline for CVs 27th January Your new companyUniversity based in Belfast Your new roleJOB TITLE: Equality and Diversity Business PartnerAs this is a 6 month contract we can confirm the main immediate priority will be supporting the consultation/engagement and subsequent development, implementation and delivery of the University's new Equality Scheme (2017-2022) in accordance with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. There will of course be other duties as outlined below . MAIN ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Keep fully up to date with changes and developments in NI equality legislation and diversity best practice, providing support, guidance and specialist equality and diversity advice to staff, management and HR colleagues across the University.2. Take a lead role in researching and developing best practice equality and diversity policy and training initiatives to ensure that the University is recognised as a leader in the field. 3. Assist with institutional and/or individual School/Department submissions for Charter Marks, Accreditations or National Awards e.g. Athena SWAN 4. To assist in the development, implementation and delivery of the institutional Equality Scheme in accordance with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.5. Take a lead role in advising staff on how to equality screen workplace policies and to assist with any required Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs).6. Advise staff involved in the implementation and monitoring of the University's Equality Scheme with the necessary skills and knowledge to do this work effectively. 7. Support the Head of the Equality and Diversity to effectively implement and deliver a range of positive action measures contained within the University's Section 75 Action Plan; Disability Action Plan and Article A55 Affirmative Action Plan; monitoring and reporting progress to senior management on a regular basis. 8. Develop new and maximise the use of existing HR information systems/databases to help identify a range of equality and diversity issues; developing practical recommendations and interventions to address these and implement more effective ways of working. 9. Analyse a wide range of data and produce progress /management reports as required for senior management to ensure the University meets its statutory obligations under NI equality legislation and to inform future policy development. 10. Assist with the design, delivery and evaluation of staff (and student as appropriate) equality and diversity training/induction to ensure that University staff are made aware of appropriate policies and the responsibility of each individual to comply with them.11. Assist with any investigation of internal equality and diversity related grievances and harassment complaints at all levels across the University.12. Maintain and further develop the University's Inclusive Employment Scheme for people with a disability and the provision of its Disability Support Fund.13. Assist with the monitoring of qualitative and quantitative data across the equality categories on an ongoing basis.15. Assist with responding to Complaints/Data Protection/Freedom of Information/Media/Press requests relating to equality and diversity issues.What you'll need to succeedESSENTIALAn Honours Degree A successful evidence-based, track record in a HR role within a complex organisation which includes:* A sound knowledge and understanding of equality legislation and methods for addressing, monitoring and evidencing statutory/organisational responsibilities. * A proven track record of working as part of a team to address significant HR challenges.* Successful management of complex projects from design through to implementation and delivery. * Proven experience of analysing and interpreting statistical and management information to draw conclusions and make realistic and relevant recommendations in relation to equality and diversity issues. * Experience of successfully embedding equality and diversity issues within an organisation's culture and achieving positive outcomes.* Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating training.Excellent IT skills with the ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret data, preparing reports which will inform decision making. Excellent oral/written, communication, interpersonal skills.Ability to communicate with and influence people at all levels both internally and externally.Evidence of well-developed planning and organisation capabilities.DESIRABLEChartered membership of CIPD (MCIPD)* Experience of preparing for organisational submissions to meet statutory compliance e.g. s75, Fair Employment Returns, Section 75 Annual Progress Reports, Article 55 Reviews, Disability Action Plans. Advanced Excel.
