Page Personnel are supporting a Public Sector organisation in Sheffield in the search for a Senior Equality Officer. This is an initial 6 month FTC until March 2022, in which the successful candidate will provide professional workforce equalities, diversity and inclusion expertise for the organisation regarding internal and associated external equality and involvement issues. A rare opportunity to make a true difference in a complex organisation.

Client Details

Our client is a Public Sector organisation based in Sheffield. The Senior Equality Officer will form as part of the wider HR function where progression and development is highly regarded. The organisation continue to work remotely, with the plan to gradually integrate back into the office on a hybrid basis.


In this busy and varied Senior Equality Officer position based in Sheffield, roles and responsibilities will include;

  • Lead, motivate and develop interventions, delivered through staff and teams, providing effective strategic leadership in order to maintain a diverse, talented, effective, valued and confident workforce
  • Provide support, guidance and governance in relation to the completion of Equality Impact Assessments
  • Provide support to managers, through the wider HR team and their interventions, to identify and address discriminatory barriers which prevent or make it difficult for people
  • Maintain and share knowledge to develop and deliver briefings/training to staff on meeting their responsibilities with regards to workforce equalities, diversity and inclusion and related legislation, statutory duty and good practice
  • Develop and maintain a system to capture, evaluate and respond to staff satisfaction and feedback in relation to workforce equalities activities


We're looking for someone with;

  • An in depth knowledge of meaningful workforce equality issues and the changing requirements in order to design, improve and implement systems and process which are accessible to all and increase representation in targeted areas
  • Significant experience and knowledge of working on workforce Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the public sector
  • In depth knowledge of equalities legislation, employment law, social and political contexts across diversity and inclusion
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to receive, understand and interpret information from others and communicate effectively
  • Ability to think and deliver strategically using evidence based negotiation and persuasion to influence decision making
