Inclusion Manager (Ethnicity & Gender)

Our HR Team of around 50 people is spread across our London, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh offices and they also support the business internationally. Within HR we have a number of specialist functions including Learning and Development, Reward, Resourcing, HR Operations, HR Business Partnering and CSR and Inclusion.

THE ROLE

AG has an ambitious inclusion agenda, with a focus on 5 key areas: disability, ethnicity, gender balance, LGBTQ+ and social mobility, and we have published action plans/targets relating to each of these. The Inclusion Manager will be part of the firm's CSR and Inclusion Team, which sits within HR, and they will have a specific focus on driving forward our gender balance and ethnicity workstreams. They will work alongside the firm's Inclusion Manager (Disability, LGBTQ+, Social Mobility) and CSR Manager in implementing our Inclusion Strategy both within the UK and globally, and supported by our CSR and Inclusion Coordinator. They can expect to work cohesively with the wider HR Team, our Inclusion Partners and employee networks.

AG is a supporter of agile working practices, and the Inclusion Manager will be able to work a proportion of their week from home. Travel between our UK offices and attendance at events out of hours may occasionally be required.

What will this role involve?

The following list of duties is not exhaustive but gives a flavour of the duties this role will undertake:

  • Helping our Inclusion Partners in the formulation and roll out of their strategic plans to improve ethnicity and gender inclusion at the firm and monitoring progress against our targets in these areas.
  • Establishing relationships with and galvanising support from key internal stakeholders to ensure optimum buy in to the inclusion agenda, with a particular focus on ethnicity and gender balance.
  • Liaising with HR and L&D colleagues to ensure effective inclusion principles are embedded into all people policies and processes.
  • Effectively creating and cascading internal communication messages and working closely with the PR team to ensure optimum external coverage of the firm's initiatives.
  • Facilitating or designing awareness-raising events and training sessions - both online and in person.
  • Providing practical support, advice and information to clients, including requests for information for tenders/pitches.
  • Leading on client partnership activity to support shared objectives.
  • Providing guidance and support to our gender and ethnicity network groups including AG colleagues who lead these networks.
  • Presenting, communicating updates and facilitating discussions at regular Inclusion meetings, network steering group or team meetings across the firm.
  • Drafting our annual Pay Gap report and Inclusion Report.
  • Completing relevant benchmarking exercises (including The Times Top 50 Employers for Women) and award submissions.
  • Managing our memberships with external organisations in the ethnicity and gender space.
  • Jointly setting and managing the inclusion budget with the Inclusion Manager (Disability, LGBTQ+, Social Mobility).
  • Advising our international offices on inclusion issues.
  • Representing the firm at external meetings, forums and networking events to determine best practice and share experiences.
  • Ad hoc inclusion projects that may not fall to one particular inclusion workstream such as ethnicity or gender.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (BESPOKE TO ROLE) -

ANY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven track record in delivering Inclusion initiatives and programmes ideally within law, professional services or a corporate environment.
  • Experience of operating at a managerial level in the equity, diversity and inclusion space.
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and understanding of the areas of gender and ethnicity inclusion.
  • Experience of coaching/advising/influencing individuals at a senior level.
  • Experience of supporting, guiding and growing employee network groups.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
  • Able to combine a commercial and best practice approach.
  • Works well in a team, as will be working alongside our Inclusion Manager (Disability, LGBTQ+, Social Mobility) and closely with employee network leads.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant equality legislation as well as best practice strategies to progress ethnicity and gender inclusion.
