Job Description

Job objectives and responsibilities

  • To passionately lead and drive delivery of the ED&I strategy in order to achieve our public targets for achieving enhanced representation at leadership level.
  • To work with and influence senior business leaders (Exec and Director level) and core functions to achieve delivery of the ED&I strategy.
  • To own and drive the ED&I agenda across the Group, including leading the Diversity network chairs to ensure alignment to the overall ED&I strategy and high-performance output.
  • To represent Mitie externally and to lead thought leadership on ED&I topics, including ensuring that Mitie language and thinking is current and evolving at the same pace as society (including evolving the strategy as required).
  • To host customer centric ED&I events to share best practice and showcase Mitie's progress as required.
  • To create clear ways of working and governance for the ED&I networks, helping them to achieve maximum impact and achieve cultural change across all diversity strands.
  • To drive Mitie's ED&I award strategy, to celebrate progress against strategy and to contribute to Mitie being the Employer of Choice in the industry.
  • To revitalize 'Our diversity makes us stronger' award within the Mitie Stars programme.
  • To play a leading role in closing diversity data gap activity with a view to providing a true picture of diversity across the Group.

Main duties

  • To truly lead all ED&I activity in line with the ED&I strategy, including taking a leadership role with the Diversity network Chairs/Co-Chairs and Exec Sponsors to ensure full alignment.
  • To develop and drive the Group-wide annual ED&I calendar of activity in conjunction with the ED&I networks, focusing on changing hearts and minds.
  • To Chair the ED&I Talent Committee and to manage expectations and commitments to delivery of actions, taking into consideration the overall ED&I strategy and deliverables and balancing new requirements with existing workloads.
  • To work with process owners to deploy required solutions to achieve inclusivity and diversity targets.
  • To create and deploy a clear framework for reverse mentoring, complete with rules of engagement and role clarity.
  • To curate and deploy a week of diversity centric activities annually, with the aim of driving awareness and support for achievement of the strategy with the frontline.
  • To ensure that our attraction strategy focuses on our support for a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • To track and report on progress against plan, ensuring data accuracy and completeness via the Mitie census and other appropriate means.
  • To manage appropriate relationships with external ED&I partners.
  • To drive engagement and visibility of ED&I activity to the disconnected workforce.

Qualifications

Person Specification

  • Credible D&I leader with proven track record of delivery and interaction with C-Suite.
  • Ability to work in a high volume and fast paced business and re-prioritise regularly.
  • Excellent communication and tech literacy to deliver with impact.
  • Resilient, with ability to influence key decision makers and challenge when necessary.
  • Ability to drive the D&I agenda across a large, nationally spread business.
  • Team player and confidence to build relationships with the business.
  • Strong commitment to employee experience and driving sustainable change.
  • Ability to drive conversation and action that may be difficult and challenging.
  • Ability to make own decisions and see them through to conclusion.
  • Sound knowledge of latest thinking in D&I arena.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to travel as required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Ability to deliver D&I training on a range of subjects to varying abilities.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.



Additional Information

Health and Safety responsibilities:

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;

Information Security:

  • Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities;
  • Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager;
  • Report actual and suspected security incidents;
