Description

We are seeking a HR professional to develop and implement effective Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) employment practices.

We believe that equality, diversity and inclusion – of people and ideas – is integral to excellence in research and innovation, letting us access the best talent and nurture great ideas. We therefore embed equality, diversity and inclusion at all levels and in all that we do, both as an organisation and as a funder of research.

As Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion you will develop and implement UKRI’s EDI action plan and act as centre of expertise for EDI and HR professionals working in UKRI’s multiple and varied Organisational units. You will partner with other HR teams to ensure EDI considerations are built into every step of their work. You will work closely with colleagues in UKRI’s EDI Strategy team.

You will be based primarily in Swindon but will be required to work at UKRI’s offices in in both London and Swindon and to attend meetings/workshops in other UK locations. We support flexible working and would be happy to discuss working patterns with candidates.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of HR and specifically, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion theory and practice.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Experience of developing and delivering strategies for significant objectives in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Broad knowledge of the research and innovation sector and UKRI’s constituent parts
  • Proven experience of representing at a senior level and influencing favorable outcomes
  • Excellent written communication skills, able to tailor style to a range of research, executive and HR audiences
  • Experience of managing a resource budget
