Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Manager to work as part of the HR Team to progress our equity and inclusion agenda. Joining an established and proactive team in a leadership and strategic role, you will be responsible for engagement with stakeholders across the School to develop initiatives that drive inclusion, foster trust and ultimately result in an environment of inclusion.

The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of LSTM’s EDI strategy and initiatives in order to deliver sustainable change across the organisation. You will guide, support, and lead the organisation in becoming a more inclusive and diverse employer, leading on the development of creating a culture in which people feel they truly belong.

The post holder will have complete autonomy to work with senior stakeholders in the design and delivery of our organisational EDI strategies and the implementation of supporting action plans. You will lead, coordinate, and drive work towards creating and maintaining an inclusive environment and build engagement with EDI across LSTM.

Key Responsibilities are:

  • Facilitate the development of the institutional vision and commitments to Diversity and Inclusion, engaging with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Act as subject matter expert on EDI, engaging with colleagues to provide advice and guidance
  • Act as operational lead for implementing EDI framework and action plans, monitoring and evaluating impact and reporting progress.
  • Produce regular reports analysing diversity trends to assist in the identification of organisational EDI challenges
  • Work closely with governance groups and working groups to raise awareness and ensure organisational EDI priorities are being met.
  • Review and develop EDI policies and practices and lead the development of equality impact assessments
  • Have oversight of strategic EDI projects, including Athena SWAN, Race Equity Review and other external charter activity
  • Lead the delivery of organisational EDI training programmes to raise awareness and build skills at all levels of the organisation.
  • Promote the organisation’s work in equity and inclusion to enhance our reputation as an employer of choice

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both written and oral, in order to convey ideas and information to meet the needs of different audiences. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Degree level or professional qualification in relevant field
  • Extensive and up to date knowledge and understanding of diversity issues
  • Successful track record in delivery of EDI strategies, projects and activities in a complex organisation
  • Strong project management skills including setting targets, monitoring and report writing
  • Strong numeracy and data analysis and presentation
  • Personal and professional credibility
  • Work collaboratively and contribute to positive working environment within HR
  • Pragmatic and solution focused, acting in organisational interests
