Accent Group are recruiting for a Diversity & Inclusion Specialist to join our existing People Team. As D&I Specialist you will play a key role in the development and delivery of best in class diversity and inclusion strategies that will support Accent in achieving its corporate strategy.

You will be engaging a wide range of stakeholders, including internal and external customers & will work closely with the Head of People alongside other Leadership Team members to develop a sustainable framework that ensures Accent's employees and customers feel a sense of inclusion and belonging.

As a D&I Specialist, you will be a business partner who is able to develop and implement practical solutions that help deliver our Corporate Strategy. You will be able to work alongside the wider People Team, with skill and integrity; taking a hands-on approach interfacing with colleagues and leaders at all levels.

You will operate as an internal consultant and be responsible for delivering the following:

  • Embed & develop Accent's D&I policy and ensure that it reflects our culture and is at the forefront of current practice
  • Support the Head of People and engage the broader Leadership Team to develop a longer-term D&I strategy to ensure that we create an inclusive culture within Accent, and our homes and services support inclusivity and tackle discrimination and inequality
  • Critically review our approach to tackling the gender pay gap and develop a proactive approach to understanding and mitigating any potential ethnicity pay gap
  • Set up an effective framework for carrying out Equality Impact Assessments on all of our policies, internal and external
  • Engage people across the business and work with the Employee Representative Forum D&I Sub-group to set up and support employee network groups to provide safe spaces for colleagues to talk about D&I issues and also provide a focal point for ensuring that our policies and practices reflect the needs of our diverse workforce
  • Ensure appropriate training is provided to all colleagues, including the Executive team, Board and Committee Members, to ensure that people understand their responsibilities with regards to the full range of D&I areas and focused on both our internal culture and the homes and services we provide
  • Develop a suite of measures (internal and external) so that we can track our progress on D&I performance
  • Prepare ad hoc and regular reports for Exec and relevant Committees and Delivery Boards to provide a level of oversight on progress against D&I activities
  • Act as the subject matter expert on D&I within the business

The must haves:

  • Experience working at a similar level, in a specialist D&I role, primarily experienced in working in a large, geographically dispersed, people-oriented and customer-facing organisation.
  • Expert knowledge of diversity and inclusion policy agenda, legislation and best practice
  • Experience of advising colleagues and leaders at all levels across the business on D&I issues
  • Experience of conducting, quality assuring and advising on Equality Impact Assessment or Analysis
  • Experience of implementing D&I initiatives, including frameworks and standards
  • Experience of developing and delivering D&I training to a wide audience
  • Ability to identify/research new developments in D&I and translate these into practical applications

Location

At Accent we're a keen promoter of agile working and encourage the use of working from home as our new way forward. We'll provide you with the equipment and software that you'll need for the purpose of your role however it will be your responsibility to have an appropriate space to work from as well as a suitable broadband connection/provider.

Should you wish to work occasionally from any of our regional offices, you may do so on a hot desk basis which will need to be arranged via our online booking system.

Salary

The spot salary for this post is £40,400 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all of the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.

Car Allowance

£1,250 per annum paid monthly (subject to TAX and NI deductions, non-pensionable)
